Pick Up Until You Find It: The 48-Hour Reset

A framework for reclaiming your stewardship when you're stuck in the Executive Residue loop.

I spent years as an academic advisor, hustling my way toward a career I thought I wanted. I was the guy working 80 hours a week, eating Hardee’s for lunch in my car because I "didn't have time" for a break, pouring everything into an employer who didn't even know my daughters' names.

I thought loyalty was a two-way street. I found out quickly it only goes one way.

I was on a runaway train, never going back.

I was headbutting a curb, thinking if I just hit it harder, I'd eventually break through.

Instead, I was just breaking myself. My career was being laid out for me by people who didn't share my vision, and my identity was being stolen by a job that would replace me in a week if I dropped dead.

This spilled into my family. I was frazzled, confused, and suffering from a constant hum of anxiety that I couldn't switch off. I needed a reset. I needed to stop digging.

You know the feeling. You pull into the driveway at 5:01 PM on a Friday. You’re exhausted, but you don't go inside. You sit there for five minutes, ten minutes, staring at the steering wheel.

Saturday: Calibrate the System

Goal: Ownership. - 8:00 AM - Identity Check: You’ve governed portfolios at work; now it's time to govern your own life. They are integrated. - 8:15 AM - Systems Audit: What is actually lingering? What is broken? Be honest. - 10:15 AM - Systems Research: Don't get fancy. Find the simplest tool for the specific friction point. - 1:15 PM - Systems Design: The new setup. Capture -> Work -> Reference -> Visualize. AI-first, capture-driven. - 3:00 PM - Implementation: Start now. Your success can’t wait until Monday. - 5:00 PM - Commitment: Sign a note to yourself. Define the new identity.

Sunday: Find Your Next Move

Goal: Clarity. - 8:00 AM - The Sabbath Gear: Counter-intuitive rest. Log off. A system of rest is still a system. - 12:00 PM - Identity Manifestation: Write out your "New Normal." Who are you becoming? - 4:00 PM - The Escape Room: Look for the patterns. Look for the clues. You’ve found the way out of the maze. - 5:00 PM - SC-15: The 15-minute Sunday Calibration. Win the week before it starts.

There is power in setting up a structure and defining a new identity. You aren't "fixing your schedule." You are reclaiming your stewardship.
